Professional Background - Current Employer
I am employed by Newell Rubbermaid and am the eBusiness Manager for the Levolor Window Fashions division, a manufacturer of window blinds, shades, and drapery hardware. I define and direct overall application and development strategy for our business process applications spanning the entire value chain (including, but not limited to B2B/B2C e-commerce on Levolor.com). I partner with business units to determine the correct uses of application and web technology to:
1.) Drive new business and capture market share
2.) Improve efficiency and the bottom line
The Hobby-based Online Business I run
In my free time, I operate an online business, SuperMotors.net, which I work on with two other business partners. SuperMotors.net provides free photo, audio, & video hosting for aftermarket and performance enthusiasts for Cars & Trucks, ATVs, Boats, Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, and Watercrafts.
Professional Background - Previous Employment
Previously, I was employed as the Director of Interactive and IS for Met|Hodder, a production and interactive company based in Minneapolis, MN and Burbank, CA, where I had been for 8 years (1997-2005). I held a dual-role of managing interactive projects and information systems-related responsibilities. I managed interactive projects for clients such as ABC Television, Target Corporation, FX Networks, and Rock the Vote. I also built and managed FreeBSD servers, routers, Avaya VoIP phones and phone system, LAN, and workstations between Burbank, CA and Minneapolis, MN offices.
Educational Background
I graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN with a BA in Management Information Systems (MIS) (what’s MIS?) and a Minor in Business Administration.
Personal Background
After spending nearly all of my life in Minnesota, in January 2006 my wife, my dog, and I packed up shop and left friends, family, and everything else we knew to move to North Carolina where I could pursue a career in consumer web marketing. Since about 1991, when I first discovered local BBSes (Bulletin Board Systems), I have been hooked on computers and social networking. Between my professional career and hobby-based business (SuperMotors), I spend many, many hours each week online tinkering, reading, researching, and learning internet technologies, online business strategy, and online consumer marketing.
When I’m not at the keyboard, I’ll most likely be working on one of our cars, playing softball, disciplining our 125-lb German Shepherd dog, listening to 90’s alternative & grunge, watching Tivo’d TV shows, or discovering this still-new-to-us state of North Carolina. I’m still a Vikings fan and will still catch a Twins game on TV if one happens to be broadcast down this way.
